World Paramotor Altitude Records

4 January, 2024

Ramón Morillas and Carlos Peña flew a foot-launched tandem paramotor to 7,186m on 23 December 2023, to claim two new altitude World records.

Their data has been sent to the FAI for ratification for RPF2 (foot-launched tandem paramotor) World records for altitude and fastest climb to 6,000m, the latter of which they achieved in 1 hour and 20 minutes.

The current altitude record is Ant Green and Eliot Nochet’s 5,066m, flown in the Mont Blanc Massif, France in April 2015.

Ramón was pilot, Carlos the co-pilot, and they flew a Niviuk Takoo 5 with a Vittorazi Cosmos 300 on a PAP Tinox 1500 frame. Leaning the fuel mix as they ascended, Ramón commented on the performance of the engine: “Every single engine I had flown in the past had lost 1,000RPM after 6,000m, whereas Vittorazi’s Cosmos 300 kept performing at normal RPM even at that altitude”.

The pair shared an oxygen system to guard against the effects of hypoxia.
