The order books are filling up for Swing’s new EN C cross country paraglider, the Astral 7, and the first ones will be delivered this month.

The Astral 7 is a three-liner which the company are convinced will delight anyone who tries it. It did Didi Siglbauer, who flew a 205km FAI triangle on his first outing on an Astral 7, and another 235km triangle soon after.

The Astral 7 uses Swing’s new Frame Technology (FT) leading edge supports: a closed frame that Swing say provides pressure stability in all directions, keeping the profile exactly as it is meant to be and aiding canopy stability.

The wing has a new profile with a higher projected aspect ratio than its predecessor, and savings in line useage have resulted in an estimated 0.5 point improvement in its glide.

The company are very happy with what they consider the optimal balance between damping and handling.

The Astral 4will eventually be available in four sizes. The first 24s (80-102kg) are arriving this month, followed by sizes 26 (90-110kg) and 28 (100-125kg) in early 2012. The extra small size is still in progress.
