Sol say their new EN B paraglider, the Ellus 4, is suitable for advanced beginners, but more experienced pilots will benefit from its good climb-ability and performance for long aerial adventures.

The three-riser design is thanks to Sol’s research on their top-end wings, and the Ellus 4 uses diagonal bands and carbon and Mylar leading edge reinforcements. A 15% total line reduction and narrow risers have resulted in half a point better glide than its predecessor, and more speed.

The wing is also more compact but with two more cells than the Ellus 3, and has a higher aspect ratio. Sol say it is more precise to thermal whether your style is more brake or weightshift led.

The Ellus 4 has long brake travel as a safety feature, yet without a loss of handling precision. They add that it’s very stable, even at maximum speed, and behaves well in thermals. It’s easy to launch too, they say.

A separate Big Ears riser, and dirt-extraction holes in the wingtips complete the spec.

The Ellus 4 has been certified EN B in four sizes, for takeoff weights from 60-125kg.
