Gin Gliders’ new high-end intermediate paraglider, the Sprint Evo, is certified EN B and has a notch more performance than the Sprint.

In the video above Gin Seok Song, its designer, takes us through some of its features. Gin say they have achieved a super-clean, wrinkle-free sail, at trim, braked and accelerated speeds. This, they say, makes it fly better all-round.

Its improvements in performance have not come from either increasing the aspect ratio which is the same, at 5.3, or reducing the number of lines, so safety has not been reduced. All the improvements, they say, have come about as the result of advanced technologies.

  • The new leading edge panel design produces more lift at lower speeds, so the glider comes up better with only the gentlest of pulls, and climbs better in thermals.
  • The ‘Rigifoil T’ describes the new trailing edge flexible plastic reinforcements. These prevent upward buckling of the profile when the brakes are applied.
  • Half-ribs on the trailing edge improve aerodynamic efficiency.
  • An advanced gathering system on the brake lines across the whole trailing edge improves both handling and stability in turbulence.

You do need to take extra care when packing it though. Gin have made a video to demonstrate their recommended technique:

The Sprint Evo is available in four colours and five sizes, catering for takeoff weights from 55 – 130kg.

The glider itself weighs from 5.0 to 6.1kg, depending on its size, which is 0.7 to 1kg lighter than the equivalent-sized Sprint, and only 200 – 400g heavier than the Sprint X-Alps.
