Gin Camino 2: Lightweight 2-liner EN-C

26 March, 2024

Gin have unveiled their new lightweight EN-C wing “crafted to explore big, wild spaces.” It is the first lightweight wing from Gin to feature the Whale Leading Edge technology.

Based on the two-line Bonanza 3 the Camino 2 is “for pilots who prefer a lighter, more compact package or just simply the general handling characteristics of lighter wings.”  Made mainly from Porcher Skytex 27 II, with 34 just on the leading edge and using nitinol rods, the Camino is over 1kg lighter than the Bonanza. The nitinol rods also help keep the packed size small. Gin say the wing will “suit pilots who not only like to fly far, but who also love adventure, whether that’s hike-and-fly, vol biv, or those who simply prefer the handling characteristics of lightweight wings.”

The company say the Camino 2 is “simple to inflate on take-off and comes up above the head with no shooting in all wind conditions.” The Whale LE technology helps delay the separation of the airflow giving “a better sink rate at low speeds along with a more delayed and progressive stall.” The wing is a true two-liner with rear riser controls and Gin say the leading edge stays clean when accelerated thanks to the panel shaping and also short strings in the middle of each cell. Yeray Gonzalez from the company said, “we don’t use a middle moon shape on the cell opening like some brands so we need to work a lot on the tensioning of the panels to keep the right shape and this string helps especially at extreme angles of attack.”

Certified EN C, the Camino 2 is available in five sizes covering all-up weights from 60-125kg, weighing from just 3.09kg to 4.15kg and in two colours.
