The Acro Base is a freestyle/acro harness from Ava Sport, with a second reserve container on the back that is activated by cutting away the main paraglider.
There is an underseat reserve too, which is released in the conventional way.
The people behind the company come from a skydiving and paragliding background, and believe that cutaway systems are the way to go when it comes to rescue chutes. As Ava’s Angel Stamenov puts it,
There is very small chance to be safe when flying with two opened wings attached to your harness simultaneously.
The Acro Base harness is available in five sizes.
The company have also collaborated with APS to create a rescue chute specifically for this harness. The AR 220 is a square, steerable reserve of 220 square feet made out of a similar fabric to skydiving reserves. It is TSO tested, and will be available from mid-January 2015.
