It’s been a year in development, but Michael Nesler’s team have now finished the EN C Maverick 2, which they say is even more stable and easier to launch than the original, and with smooth, precise handling.

They say it glides neck-and-neck with other EN C wings they have tested it against, but is “clearly ahead” when it comes to riding out bumpy air or pushing into wind.

“Every movement of air is transferred into height, like with an open class competition prototype”, Icaro say, and add that it is also “unbelievably” stable at speed.

Its likeness to competition gliders may be down to the technologies it shares with them. It boasts trailing edge mini-ribs, advanced sail tension control on the upper surface through cross stitching and stiffeners in the nose. The A lines have been moved back, offering more stability.

The basic aspect ratio, shape and line length are like the original Maverick, so Icaro say owners of the original will be able to move to the updated version with ease.
