Ozone SwiftMax

A serial version of Ozone’s SwiftMax high-performance tandem is now available, aimed at experienced tandem pilots looking for a lightweight wing for cross-country adventures.

The 41m² SwiftMax is based on the Swift 4 solo wing, and has a weight range of 150-210kg. Ozone say it offers the glide performance, sink rate, handling, and speed of a solo wing, as well as easy inflation and take-off, good flare authority and a wide useable trimmer range.

It is intended for individual pilots setting off on adventures with friends and family, and does not replace the Magnum 2, which is Ozone’s workhorse for professional tandem pilots.

During its development phase, Ozone R&D team member, Honorin Hamard, together with his partner Karine Gras, flew the SwiftMax 407km in Brazil, smashing the world tandem distance record.

The duo spent almost 11 hours in the air and reported that despite the intense conditions, the Swift Max delivered a smooth ride.

Ozone have kept the aspect ratio of the SwiftMax to a modest 5.55 (flat), for safety and ease of use. They say its light weight (7kg) keeps it feeling agile and responsive, and the SharkNose profile ensures it cuts through turbulence in a solid, predictable manner, and is very collapse resistant.
