Ozone have released an update to their Ultralite. The fifth generation is the lightest yet, and comes in a wider range of sizes from 13m² to 25m².
The two smallest sizes are load-tested only, the largest two are EN A, and the sizes in-between are EN C and B. Ozone say that 17m² size (EN-C) is the lightest certified dual-surface wing per square metres of flat area. It weighs 1.76kg.
The Ultralite 5 has a new arc resulting in a more compact wing. In terms of flying characteristics, Ozone say the UL5 has more direct and intuitive handling than its predecessor. It can be used for run-and-fly, hike-and-fly or mountain adventures, and its characteristics will depend a lot on wing loading. A pilot who flies at 80kg all up, for instance, is in the weight range for all seven sizes, but the experience under the 13m² version will be very different to flying the 25m² wing.
All sizes are made from Dominico N10D cloth, with unsheathed Edelrid 8001 series lines throughout.
