Ozone’s new Alpina is a lightweight, performance paraglider, designed for vol-biv adventure pilots to take on flights “through the biggest air in the most demanding alpine environments”.
Each component of the wing has been chosen to provide the best support possible with the least amount of weight, Ozone say. They have got the weight of the M size down to just 4.51kg, which they point out is “very impressive for a glider with so many cells and an advanced internal construction.”
It’s lighter than the Delta, which means it has a more crisp and direct feel with a slightly more agile turn. Its real-world glide performance is the highest Ozone have yet experienced in the EN C class, and they consider it a step up from the Delta in terms of performance and handling, so a high-end EN C.
In terms of durability, Ozone say that if you care for it properly and inspect it regularly, the Alpina will last for many hundreds of flying hours. The materials used have been proven suitable after many years and tens of thousands of hours of testing by the Ozone team, who have full confidence in its strength and durability. The Alpina is load tested to 8G and certified EN C.
It is available in four sizes, for in-flight weights of 55-115kg, and three colour options.
