Nova have released an ultra-light version of the Pentagon reserve parachute, for hike-and-fly. It weighs just 810g in the size 85 and 910g in the 100.
Nova say all of the five-sided Pentagon reserves are characterised by their high pendular stability, fast opening times and easy packing.
The new “adapted reefing system” on the light version is inspired by round parachutes. To ensure the opening force is applied more evenly to the canopy, the Pentagon Light features spliced suspension lines, which results in a more damped opening of the rescue.
Nova say that, due to its extremely lightweight construction, the Pentagon Light is not suitable for repeated deployments eg on SIV courses, and should be structurally checked by an authorised workshop after each deployment.
