Nova announces pilots of the Year

18 January, 2009

Every year, Austrian paragliding manufacturer Nova chooses one or more “Nova Pilot(s) of the Year“ from their pilots worldwide.

For 2008 the titles went to Wolfgang Bernhard (AT), Mik Broschart (DE) and Steve Nash (GB).

“Our choice isn’t based solely on the achievements of the pilots“, says Nova CEO Wolfgang Lechner, “but also whether and how the pilot engages his time for us.“ Besides this, the pilot’s personality also plays an important role.

Wolfgang Bernhard was awarded for winning the worldwide ranking in the XContest.org in the standard category with his NOVA Mentor (1–2 / EN B). He also showed his commitment by accompanying various Hike & Fly events in the Alps. Additionally, he supported the XC Camp as coach in April 2008 in Greifenburg.

Mik Broschart successfully took part in various contests including the OLC. But more than that, “he is one of the most dedicated brand ambassadors we have. Mik is a marketing professional, and supports us with his great ideas,” according to Wolfgang Lechner.

Steve Nash and his Ibex mountaineering wing won both the “Mini-X-Alps” in the UK, the X-Lakes and X-Scotia. Furthermore, he flew very well in the English league, is the master at proofreading many English texts from NOVA and is, above all, an extremely dedicated and communicative team pilot.
