12 May, 2009

The International Bassano Open took place over an extended Easter weekend (9 – 13 April), celebrating the start of a new season.  As well as a good turnout for the exhibition, 140 pilots from more than eight countries battled against each another in the Monte Grappa Trophy. Four of the five possible days were flyable, and the results were as follows:

HG: Austrians took all the podium places in the flexwing category, with Manfred Ruhmer (Icaro Laminar Z9) in first, Gerolf Heinrichs (Moyes Litespeed RS4) second and Robert Reisinger (Moyes Litespeed) third. In the female category, Germans Corrinna Schwiegershausen (Moyes Litespeed) and Monique Werner (Aeros Combat L12) took the first two places.

Seven rigid wings, all Atos VRs, competed, with Germans Andreas Becker and Norbert Kirchner taking the top two spots.

PG: Ulrich Prinz (DE, Gin Boomerang 6) won the paragliding event, closely followed by Jimmy Pacher (IT, Gin Boomerang 6) and Alberto Vitale (IT, iviuk Icepeak 3). Elisa Houdry (FR, Niviuk Icepeak 3) was first woman and seventh overall, with Caroll Licini (IT, Swing WRC) in second.
