“At the front of launch I pulled the wing up, turned and ran off the hill. My first thought was just how normal it felt…”

It’s the paraglider that shouldn’t have been. The extremely lightweight single-skin paraglider that can be stuffed into a day pack and weighs less than your packed lunch. The Ozone XXLite is revolutionary, and has been selling like hotcakes according to the company.

We had to have a go.

Marcus King was our stooge brave test pilot as we pushed him to give it a whirl. “What’s it like with a collapse Marcus?” we asked innocently…

After he’d taken it out we gave it to Charlie, our resident mountain runner. She went running with it, just to see if she could. “And of course, you can,” she said.

Finally, we spoke to the glider’s designer, Ozone’s Luc Armant, who revealed that actually, he’d developed the glider for a, er, bet.

It was a bet I made with the rest of the design team. I said that after cutting the bottom surface off an Element it would still fly. I won.
