Skytraxx have launched a lighter and more compact version of the Skytraxx 5. The Skytraxx 5 mini offers the same sensors as the Skytraxx 5, but is slightly smaller and 20g lighter.
The manufacturer says it has a brilliant display that is easy to read, even in bright sunlight and has an impressive battery life of a claimed 60 hours. It also comes with integrated technologies such as Fanet and Flarm to ensure safe communication and collision avoidance.
Other features include ultra-sensitive sensors, the latest GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) technology, worldwide airspaces and obstacle warning technology.
The vario also features audio playback for voice announcements via a speaker, and a thermal assistant. There are also features for when you’re on the ground, including a Hike mode for keeping track of your ascent when you’re on your way to launch.
Alongside the instrument Skytraxx have introduced their SkyUp software for updates, loading airspace and downloading flight data. Skytraxx say it is user-friendly with an intuitive operation for everyone – there are no complicated menus or settings, just a one button, one-click solution. It’s compatible with both macOS and Windows.
The dimensions of the mini are 101mm x 88mm x 16mm and it weighs 180g.
The Skytraxx 5 mini retails at €499 including Fanet and Flarm.
