Flytec have reported that over 100 applications responded to their call for test pilots for their new Connect 1 ‘smartvario,’ in the first 24 hours of them having posted it. Applications are being received until 6 April 2015.
Flytec say the first units will be ready by the end of March 2015, of which the first 100 will be sold to the successful test pilots at a reduced price.
As a test pilot, you will get an early Connect 1, with only a few functions, at a very favorable price. All the following software updates are free, until the vario has reached its full functionality.
In return, you fill in our surveys (we are planning to do about five of them until the end of the year), to give us valuable information for our software development. Win-Win!
Flytec describe the Connect 1 as a ‘smartvario’. Initially it will be a “high quality variometer and altimeter with WiFi connectivity and automatic software updates”. The feedback from the test pilots will influence the updates the instrument receives and the new functions it is endowed with.
For May, Flytec say waypoints and graphic airspace display are planned and that’s also when the vario will be available to all pilots. Throughout 2015 more features will follow, including maps and graphic thermal assistant.
Flytec say they are extremely impressed by the interest in the Connect 1 and thank all the pilots for their applications to become test pilots.
