European Paragliding Championships 2012: Yassen Savov wins
17 September, 2012
Yassen Savov won the European Paragliding Championships, which saw its last task on Saturday 15 September. He beat Xevi Bonet by 76 points. A mere seven points behind Xevi, Russell Ogden took third place.
Italy’s Nicole Fedele won the Women’s class with Kirsty Cameron in second and Regula Strasser in third.

In the nations, it was a 1,2,3 for Austria, Spain and Switzerland. Host nation France came eighth.
It was a win too for Ozone. Of the top 20 pilots, 18 were flying Ozone Enzos. Niviuk however did bag three spots on the podium: Xevi, Nicole and Regula were all on Icepeak 6s.

The competition saw some good tasks and good flying, although a strong north wind kept pilots grounded for several days over the two-week comp. Pilots flew tasks of 102.3km, 77.8km, 84.7km, 69.1km, 75.6km and 74km.
Yassen flew consistently well throughout the comp, winning one task and only slipping down to 31st place on the third task. His positions were: 4th, 1st, 31st, 12th, 2nd and 4th.

Congratulations to Yassen, and to all pilots, for a great comp. We hope to have a comprehensive report in the next issue of Cross Country.
Klaudia Bulgakow was on hand with her camera throughout the comp:
