Larouco set to welcome SRS for first time

The Sports Class Racing Series, Skywalk Edition, will head to Montalegre, Portugal for the third event of the series 7-13 July.

The series offers the opportunity for pilots to race with accessible equipment, as many pilots in the world fly EN-B and EN-C wings. Organisers say, with fifteen different brands of glider and thirty different harnesses signed up, the SRS is a “showground for equipment” and what can be achieved with it.

The Larouco mountain range in northern Portugal is fantastic for paragliding, with several take-offs to cover almost all wind directions. Larouco has hosted many top-level competitions in the past and organisers say the local organisation is really looking forward to welcoming the Sports Class Racing Series for the first time this summer.

Pilots from thirty different countries will be participating, making it a “truly international” event. It’s also going to be a “friends and family affair”, with couples, along with fathers and sons, taking part.

Organisers say after two events the leaders of the series are beginning to emerge as the youngsters dominate, but that might change.

Building on the SRS events in Spain and Colombia there will be live scoring. To follow the competition in eight different languages via the live commentary, tracking and leaderboards visit the SRS’s free web app: srs.live
