Apco have released a new race-spec paraglider harness, called the Swift.
It has a pod and a prominent fairing, and Apco describe it as “by far the most spohisticated harness they have ever designed”, and a “masteriece of mechanics and aerodynamics”.
We worked hard to achieve a balance between comfort and activeness. The Swift will transmit exactly what the wing is doing, but in a way which is reassuring and not surprising.
The harness is extensively padded for comfort, with wide, load-distributing shoulder straps and a breathable padded back support. The rigid seatplate is covered by dense foam, and load-bearing semi-rigid elements integrated into the back of the harness ensure the pilot’s body stays in the correct position regardless of the webbing adjustment chosen.
The speed system features a double set of ball bearing pulleys for smooth and effortless operation, and an adjustable speed-system pulley which prevents the harness from pitching up or down when the bar is applied.
The Swift has a full 17cm airfoam protector and a Lexan pierce-protection plate, and two reserve containers: one under the seat and the other front mounted. It weighs 6.4kg including the 3-step speedbar, seat plate, leg plates and back protector.
