Advance’s long-awaited Impress 3 paraglider harness was a real crowd-puller at this year’s Coupe Icare festival in September.

The lightweight (4.7kg), aerodynamically optimised harness was developed from twice X-Alps winner Chrigel Maurer’s 2009 X-Alps harness.

It has no seat board, instead using a hammock system which saves weight and also wraps around the pilot, adapting to hs shape so reducing drag and eliminating uncomfortable pressure points.

The 4.7kg includes the Impress 3’s 14cm foam back protection. The harness also has a reserve deployment system which is enclosed by a zipper system to stop unintended deployments. Advance say it incorporates a “nify release mechanism” for a quick opening.

Here’s a video we made at the Coupe Icare at St Hilaire at the end of September, in which Chrigel Maurer shows us the ins and outs of the Impress 3 harness. Who better  to guide could you round this product?
