Davinci’s new two-line EN C, the Mambo
SSS stands for smart snake system – nitinol wire along the ribs
3 December, 2024, by Cross CountryDavinci have launched the Mambo, a new two-line EN-C. Available in four sizes it has a flat aspect ratio of 6.6 and 67 cells. For comparison, the Ozone Photon (EN C) has an A/R of 6.5 and 71 cells.
Design features in the Mambo include a pronounced sharknose and what looks like some innovative profile shaping technology using S-shaped nitinol wire.
Introducing the Smart Snake System for the Mambo the company said: “SSS is a kind of longitudinal and horizontal frame of the profile. Nitinol wire is positioned in the shape of a snake [along the ribs], so it always maintains the shape of the profile and provides quick recovery in case of collapse.”
They say it helps semi-inflate the glider on take off, especially in light wind conditions, and that it will “free you from the fear of collapses in unstable weather” in the air.
The design process was lengthy and laborious: “We set the bar high and did not want to compromise. Many designs, many modifications, many tests, and many times back to the drawing board.”
The Mambo is aimed at sports class pilots who are looking to fly a two-line EN C. Those include pilots looking to step from EN B+ gliders or EN D pilots who want to step down.
The Mambo is available in three colours and four sizes, from 60kg to 120kg.
