Advance unveil new Sigma DLS

30 July, 2024, by Cross Country

Advance have unveiled the new Sigma DLS, calling the EN C three-liner a “Cross Country Sportster”. With a focus on delivering fun, they say the wing “promises a performance boost, enjoyable thermalling with forgiving flight characteristics”.

The new design also means they’ve managed to make it relatively light. It starts at 3.7kg, with the size 24 – which has a weight range of 84kg to 97kg – weighing 4.1kg.
Advance say this is achieved with mini ribs featuring nitinol wires at the leading edge and a Durable Lightweight Structure (DLS) that balances lightness and robustness.

The front mini ribs also ensure that the aerodynamically critical leading edge remains precisely shaped, contributing to a better performance than the Sigma 11. The super-elastic Nitinol wires also reduce pack volume and increase durability, as they do not deform even under greater stress. At its core is a tried and tested three-liner concept with DLS technology.

“It responds to control inputs precisely and directly, providing a fun flying experience in thermals,” says the manufacturer. “XC enthusiasts can look forward to an exceptional balance of performance and ease with the Sigma DLS.” They also say the wing has a forgiving character.

The Sigma DLS is aimed at the ambitious cross-country pilot and is available in the standard colours of petrol, fire and spectra with the option to customise.

There are four main sizes from 22 to 28, for 68kg to 128kg with size 20 still a “work in progress”.
The Sigma DLS is available from September.
