The first thing that crossed my mind when handed this wing to review was “Why call it Billy?” ITV head honcho Heniu Dyduch didn’t really help, cryptically saying: “It’s a joke, between friends, you had to be there to understand.”
He did go on to say “this kind of name works well, everybody remembers it, like our Pil-pit or Bip-bip, and it’s easy to pronounce all over the world.” Fair enough then.
The second thing I noticed as I rolled out the wing prior to my first flight was the colourful colour scheme.
ITV has been using variations of the theme on all their wings recently, but this was the first time I had had one in my hands. Up close it is certainly stunning.
Amazingly the Billy is ITV’s first full reflex wing. So it only seemed fair to head out on a long weekend road trip down to the northern beaches of Spain’s beautiful Mediterranean coast to give it a go…
The full review is in Cross Country 157, Jan/Feb 2015.
