World Record falls with a 507 km flight on a paraglider!

Monday 15 December, 2008

Nevil Hulett has broken the world paragliding distance record in the de Aar area of South Africa with a 507 km flight from Copperton on his Mac Magus 6.

James Braid’s report on the XC Open World series website, www.xc-open.org, reads that Nevil “flew from Copperton (about 60km SW of Prieska) to somewhere near the Lesotho border (inside Lesotho by the sounds of things).

The conditions were really strong, high clouds, strong winds, strong thermals, just the stuff one needs. Unfortunately, only a handful of pilots in the world can handle that kind of flying.”

Congratulations Nevil!
