The IQ5 is U-Turn’s reversible harness / rucksack, designed to meet the needs of cross country paraglider pilots who walk long distances with their kit.
U-Turn say their company philosophy is to always create products with the maximum performance and safety. The IQ5 is no different, with comfort, low weight and compactness being equally important attributes.
On the safety front, U-Turn say the certification tests gave excellent damping figures for the air bag, which reaches full volume straight after launch. The integrated reserve parachute container is beneath the seat and the release handle within easy reach of the pilot.
Comfortwise, the harness’ padded back support and seat board are adjustable. U-Turn have also paid a lot of attention to getting the rucksack right, realising that users of reversible harnesses tend to be those who enjoy hiking to remote places, they have given it a good ‘Alpine’ carry system.
There is plenty of storage space inside the main rucksack, where there is room for a large paraglider and helmet, and then there are extra removable zipped containers for when you need them. Additional loops for walking poles or for attaching a sleeping mat are reflective for night-time visibility, and a detachable rain cover is provided too.
The IQ5 is available in three sizes M (155 – 170 cm), L (170 – 185 cm) and XL (185 – 200 cm). It takes up to 120 kg.
