Team Red Bull Austria won Red Bull Elements, the four-sport relay race that took place at Annecy last Saturday. They finished in a time of five hours and two minutes.

They were closely followed by team Adidas, with five hours and five minutes, and then Asics les Saisies, in five hours and 14 minutes.

Fifty-one teams took part in the race that started and finished in Talloires on 21 May, under a blazing hot sky.

The race comprised a 14km rowing course, 10km trail run with 1,900m height gain over “insanely difficult” terrain, ranging from steep to almost verical granite slabs which had to be climbed.

The paragliding descent then involved several touch-and-gos, and culminated in a raft landing on the lake, from where the mountain biker took on 25km of “mostly singletrack mayhem”, ending in a near-vertical descent into the village.

The second video is made by Cassebriques Production, and gives a good feel for each of the four challenges.

Six of the pilots will be recovering from this event and continuing their preparations for the St Hil’ AirTour, the 289km mini X-Alps hike-and-fly race that begins in St Hilaire du Touvet, home of the famous Coupe Icare festival, on 21 June.
