Swing have announced that their latest mini-wing, the Apus RS, is certified in standard and ‘hike’ (lighter) versions.
A versatile wing, Swing say the Apus RS’s uses range from strong-wind soaring to dynamic flying through to hike-and-fly adventures, its behaviour and certification changing with wing loading. Because it’s small and light, it also makes an ideal travel companion.
The Apus RS uses Swing’s RAST technology:
Delayed filling behaviour ensures that the inflation phase is easy to control and it minimises any tendency to launch the pilot unintentionally, particularly in very steep terrain or in strong winds. Once in the air, RAST ensures less canopy movement in turbulent air as well as an above-average resistance to collapse, which has a positive effect on performance.
Both standard and hike versions are available in three sizes: 14, 16 and 18. The smallest Apus RS Hike is just 2.6kg, and is made from 27g/m² material on both top and bottom surfaces, with skinny Dyneema risers and soft shackles; the standard version starts at 3.14kg, and is made from 41g/m² and 34g/m² fabric.
The Apus RS Hike is available in red or blue, and the standard version can be ordered in three colour choices.
