Oliver Michielsen won the Macedonia leg of the Paragliding World Cup, held in Krushevo from 5-12 August.

The French pilot won by the slimmest of margins – a mere three points ahead of Armin Eder from Austria in second, and only five ahead of Charles Cazaux who was in third place.

All podium pilots were on Ozone Enzos.

The comp saw good conditions and good tasks: 70.3km, 95km, 75km, 57.7km and 42.5km.

The competition brings the European part of the Paragliding World Cup season to a close.

In July Yann Martail and Keiko Hiraki won the PWC held in Montalegre, Portugal, which saw four good tasks of 83.9km, 56.5km, 97.2km and 81.6km.

And in May Alfredo Studer and Seiko Fukuoka Naville won the Annecy competition, which only saw one task because of poor weather.

It means across the three competitions Marco Littame of Italy won the overall European competition.

He flew his Niviuk Icepeak 6 consistently to take the title of European PWC Champion. Klaudia Bulgakow of Poland won the Women’s class. She was also flying a Niviuk Icepeak 6.

The Paragliding World Cup now shifts its focus to the Americas, where the action starts in Idaho on Saturday 19 August for a week. Fast racing at altitude is expected.

The Idaho PWC is followed by an Open Distance National Championships, from 27 August to 2 September. This comp will see mentoring and talks by experienced competition pilots including Russell Ogden, Nate Scales, Bill Belcourt, Nick Greece, Josh Cohn, Matt Beechinor and Andy Macrae.

Full details of both the Open and the PWCA are on the Fly Far in Idaho website.
