Nova’s Ion 2 is a low-level EN B wing designed for easy, safe and stress-free flying, which they say is suitable for instruction but with great cross country potential.

The aerofoil shape comes from the Mentor 2, and the aspect ratio is about the same as the original, but as a three-liner it uses 40% less line, greatly reducing drag.

Nova say the Ion 2 outglides the old Mentor and is not far below the Mentor 2.

Other assets include an uncomplicated launch, high collapse-resistance, efficient speed system and light, precise brakes. Big Ears are an efficient descent method with only two A-lines each side.

The Ion 2 is certified in five sizes.

Nova are so confident in the capability of the Ion 2 that they are running an Ion 2-only competition: the Ion 2 Hundred Challenge requires Ion2 pilots to log their flights on XContest to be in with a chance of winning. There is a 2,000 Euro prize for the first pilot to fly a 200km triangle. In addition, the pilot who manages the longest flight of the season on the wing will win ten times the number of XContest points, in Euros.
