Honorin Hamard and Seiko Fukuoka Naville were crowned FAI European Paragliding Champions on Saturday 20 August 2016, after a two-week long competition in Krushevo, Republic of Macedonia.
The win was doubly-sweet for the French pair because both pilots are already Overall and Women’s FAI Paragliding World Champions. They won the FAI Paragliding World Championships in Colombia in January 2015.
To top it all, France won the Nations gold medal, making it a clean sweep for France at the European competition.
The competition saw nine good tasks, ranging in distance from 71.5km to 114.8km. Each task takes up to four hours to complete.
Honorin Hamard won the competition comprehensively, maintaining a strong lead for much of the competition.
Hono has been on fire all season – as well as being double FAI World and European Champion, he has flown two world record 300km FAI triangles. He also holds FAI world records for tandem flying.
Seiko is also an FAI world record holder, with several speed and distance records to her name.
Some 150 pilots took part in the competition, which ran from 10-20 August 2016
Congratulations to all pilots for a safe, fair and fun competition.
