The latest version of Ozone’s tandem, the Magnum 4, has been released and is available in three sizes covering all-up weights from 110kg to 239kg. It’s a wing designed for professional tandems as well as leisure flying.
The Magnum 4 has seen a plethora of changes to the structure of the wing including new aerofoils, new diagonals and internal structure, double 3D shaping added to the leading edge, improved panel shaping and an increase in aspect ratio to 5.45 all creating a wing with “improved handling, efficiency & performance.” The wing also adds winglets allowing for an increased arc that gives “better sail tension and sharper handling while maintaining roll stability” for increased comfort.

Ozone say they have paid particular attention to the launch and landing characteristics and say that the Magnum 4 has the shortest take-off run in their range “making for impressively simple launching characteristics. The pilot and passenger are airborne much faster than before.” They add that the wing has “ultra-precise pitch control and a high resource flare” for gentle landings.
The durability of the wing is another area Ozone say they have concentrated on, “with extensive rib reinforcement to reduce deformation on the bias” They claim it is gives the “lowest cost per flight of any tandem.”
Ozone’s test team say “the simplicity and low-stress nature of the launch, flight, and landing, have brought a new level of joy and comfort to our tandem flying.”
