Nova have said they expect to start shipping their new Triton 2 this month.
Certification tests have been carried out on the M and L, with S in progress. The M and L have both been certified EN C. The original Triton is EN D in three sizes and EN C in the largest size, so this is a slight shift ‘down’ the EN certification levels for the wing.
Nova say:
The Triton 2 is a breath of fresh air in the serial performance glider class, which follows in the tradition of former DHV 2/3 wings.
On the one hand the Triton 2 offers impressively good performance and therefore the potential for ambitious XC flights; on the other hand the flying characteristics of the wing are manageable.
It is exactly what discerning pilots want: the ultimate flying machine which combines performance with appropriate certification.

They add:
With its aspect ratio of 1:6.4, wing area, short rods and its passive safety features, the TRITON 2 is a rather traditional glider, but simultaneously it comes with a bundle of innovations. Inside the wing, new needle-eye ribs are used.
These diagonal ribs are made from one piece and traverse the profile rib immediately next to it through special slots (needle-eyes). This has allowed NOVA to distribute the tension across the span of up to five cells at a time.
It results in a more precise shape than is achieved in a conventional four or five piece rib, which is implemented using multiple-piece doublediagonal ribs. Double 3D-shaping and optimised position and size of the cell openings enhance the performance potential of the wing.
The leading edge of the TRITON 2 is reinforced with extremely flexible rods, but these end just after the A line attachments. In comparison to the TRITON 1, the A line attachment points were not set back. For this reason, collapses are generally less extensive.
NOVA found this both during induced asymmetric collapses using the A-riser, as well as in spontaneous collapses in turbulent air. With a moderate aspect ratio of 6.4 (flat) the TRITON 2 continues the tradition of its predecessors, the Tycoon and Triton (1).
The Nova website will be updated with full details soon, Nova said.
