The final stage of this year’s SRS series comes to Saint-André-les-Alpes in the coming days as several pilots battle for the title of overall winner. In contention is the Australian ‘Serge’ Durrant, currently in the lead, his mentor the former acro world champion Pal Takats, Ulric Jessop, Matias Nombarasco and Magdalena Janaway, who is currently 8th overall in the rankings.

Last year’s champion, Mark Hayman is lying just outside the top ten and could pull it all out and make a comeback. As for the teams, it’s going to be a battle to the last goal line between the Ozone teams, Masterclass, FlyMaster and Cross Country Magazine.

This is the fifth event of the 2024 series and six tasks are planned for the event, which runs from 10-15 September in the legendary paragliding playground that is Saint-André in southern France.

Famed for the beautiful turquoise waters of Lac de Castillon and Chalvet’s booming thermals, it’s home to complex valley winds, high and low mountain terrain and endless ridges. A single task can take pilots from friendly foothills to wild high mountain terrain, to plains and plateaux.

Many prizes are up for grabs this week, including a Gin paraglider of the pilot’s choice (EN-C and below) as well as a Naviter Omni Flarm. And if the weather doesn’t play ball, the St André boules association have promised to teach pilots how to play Pétanque.
