Marcus King took a detour to Lake Annecy last week, to visit Sup’Air and to test out their new cutaway paraglider reserve system.
The steerable BASE rescue system was designed by Raul Rodriguez, and after three years of perfecting it, it’s now at the testing stage and will be on the market soon. The reserve comes fitted into a specially designed Sup’Air harness (which has a second, Rogallo, reserve fitted too).
Pull the red reserve handle, in any direction and with either hand, and within seconds your main paraglider will be released from your harness and you’ll quickly drop away from it, while a 24m2 BASE jump wing will take its place, seeing you safely down to earth and popping you on the ground with a nice flare.
Watch the video where Raul Rodriguez talks us through its salient features, and Marcus gets to try it out.
