Peter Vaskovych Appeal

12 May, 2009

Peter Vaskovych is seriously ill with lukaemia and needs to undergo urgent bone marrow transplant followed by a series of chemotherapy treatments to save his life. Apco’s Anatoly Cohn sent us this letter, urgently appealing for help to try to save Peter’s life:

Peter is the designer for Aeros’ paragliding range and is responsible for the designs of all paragliders from Aeros for the last 10 years. He is a young man – 43 years old, married + 2 kids, living in Kiev, Ukraine. Recently he discovered that he is suffering from acute lukemia which needs immediate medical attention. Unfortunately the level and quality of medical care in Ukraine is severely lacking and he must find a donor and undergo marrowbone transplant in the West. The procedure is expensive – requiring over Euro 150,000 which is definitely not available to him. (He is selling all his possessions, including his apartment, to raise funds, but it will not match anything close to what is needed).

I am shocked and horrified by the prospect of a young, talented designer dying from a curable disease simply because of a lack of funds. So far on my own, I extended the necessary help in starting the treatment – now I am asking the industry, pilots, dealers and manufacturers to extend a helping hand by contributing to this worthy cause.

“Please help to save his life.
