Nervures’ latest wing is a hybrid mountain and speedflying wing called the Whizz. They describe it as “the best compromise between low weight and durability, and with easy launch and landing characteristics in tricky places, and nice handling”.
Nervures have a long history of making lightweight gliders, with the original Kenya dating back to the 1990s. Their designs have moved on of course, and the Whizz combines their lightweight expertise with the Swoop’s speedriding characteristics. It has modern design features including rods in the leading edge to facilitate inflation, and optimised line attachment points. Nervures have revived their webbing loop to keep the glider in place on steep and snowy mountain launches.
The Whizz is available in three sizes:
18m2 – certified EN C for 50-75kg all-up, “for run-and-fly addicts and those who enjoy dynamic flight”. Weighs 2.58kg with lightweight risers, or 2.9kg with standard risers.
20m2 – certified EN B for 55-95kg all-up. Weighs 2.73 or 3.05kg depending on riser set.
22m2 – certification in process for 60-100kg all-up. Weighs 2.84 or 3.15kg.
