In issue 143: Skywalk’s Cayenne 4 and Sky’s Antea 2, both EN C

How’s the season been where you are? Ours has had its moments – and there have been big ones – but we’ve also suffered our share of poor conditions.
That hasn’t stopped us though. J C Skiera lives in Annecy, France and has been out testing Sky’s Antea 2 (EN C). He writes:
To say the least, the situation has got rather murky in the Sports wing market this season. Some gliders, though EN C certified, have higher aspect ratios than EN Ds. Others, though initially aiming for an EN D have ended up with an EN C rating. It is difficult to know what’s what. Among the confusion, Sky’s brief for the Antea 2 was to produce an easy, lightweight and playful wing fitting squarely in EN C and thus suitable to pilots new to the class as well.

Meanwhile, Cross Country magazine’s designer Marcus King has been out flying the Cayenne 4 (EN C):
Within Skywalk’s range the Cayenne 4 sits just below their serial racer, the Poison 3, and above their EN B Chilli 3. The company promote it as a wing for “ambitious XC pilots” but say it’s well within the limits of the class. This is borne out by the fact that the aspect ratio has only seen a modest increase from 6.0 to 6.13, and the cell count has been reduced by two.
What did he think of it? Well, he made it to 5,300m above Mont Blanc on Super Sunday, so that’s a clue.
