The 2008 World Women’s and Rigid Hang Gliding championships took place in Sigillo, Italy, from 19 July to 2 August.
Three events were run side by side, with the Women’s World (Class 1) championships flying different tasks from the small numbers of Class 2 and bigger field of Class 5 pilots, who flew the same tasks. Six were scored (Seven for the Class 2s) and the overall results were as follows:
Women:

3: Kathleen Rigg, GB, Moyes Litespeed
Class 2:
1: Manfred Ruhmer, AT, Aeriane Swift Light
2: Steve Cox, CH, Bright Star Swift
3: Brian Porter, US, Aeriane Swift light
Class 5:
1: Alessandro Ploner, IT, Air Atos VR
2: Christian Ciech, IT, Air Atos VR
3: Robert Reisinger, AU, Air Atos VR
