XC Open World series 2009 is over

7 September 2009 saw the final day of the Piedrahita round of the XC Open World series, completing not only this week of competition, but the 2009 series. Paul Tomassi (CH, Gin) was the winner, with Christine Miller (DE, Icaro) the top female.

The series saw only one task held in Manilla, but then six in Sopot were followed by seven in Piedrahita, giving a healthy tally of 14 tasks flown in the series. 50% of all tasks flown are used for the final scoring of the series, and the podiums were as follows:

Men:

1. Paul Tomassi (CH, Gin Boomerang 6)
2. Kacper Kowalski (PL, Axis Mercury)
3. Reynald Mumenthaler (CH, Gin Boomerang 6)

Women:

1. Christine Miller (DE, Icaro Maverick)
2. Christiane Touchain (FR, UP Trango 3)
3. Ewa Korneluk-Guzy (DE, Sol Torck)

The serial class was won by Klaus Günter Eberle (DE, Aircross U-Sport),with another German, Rainer Bürger (Advance Sigma 7), taking the sports class title and Slawek Kedziak (PL, Axis Vega II) the fun class.
