U-Turn have a new LTF 1 paraglider out, the Emotion 2. It is the third, current wing in their range with LTF 1 certification, and sits between the docile Bodyguard 3 and the sportier Infinity 3.
The Emotion 2 is the first paraglider to benefit from U-Turn’s ‘Launch Control’ (LC) system, which they say makes inflation and launching easier. It is basically a velcro loop which attaches to the front of the A risers, and which the Bs can also be attached to, and prevents the pilot from pulling the risers too far downwards. U-Turn say this makes front collapses and overshooting on launch virtually things of the past, and means you can control the speed at which the wing comes up.
The Emotion 2 also has the ‘Precision Profile Nose’ (PPN), plastic nose reinforcement in place of Mylar, which makes it lighter (5.2 – 6.5kg, depending on size). Thinner lines add also reduce the weight whilst increasing performance, adding, U-Turn claim, around 1-2 km/h to its trim speed.
The company say the Emotion 2 is simple to fly and forgiving, and its Automatic Flight Stabilisaion (AFS) prevents most collapses. They say its performance is good, even with speed bar, and it climbs well in thermals. All-in-all they say it represents “safe, fun flying”.
The Emotion 2 comes in four colour choices and four sizes (50 – 130kg all-up).
