Nervures have updated their Swoop mini wing; the Swoop 2 will be officially launched at the 2015 Coupe Icare.
It will initially be available in 14 and 16m2 sizes, load tested to 120kg. The biggest size is suitable for pilots who are new to mini wings. Nervures say its launch behaviour is close to that of a standard paraglider and landing is easy, while flight behaviour is dynamic, but manageable.
The Swoop 2 14 is for speedflying and paraclimbing for experienced mini-wing pilots. Its short lines make launching from small, tricky take-offs easier, and Nervures say it is solid in turbulent conditions even with the trimmers out. “Take-off is very fast”, they warn, but its good low-speed behaviour makes for surprisingly gentle landings.
The 16 and 14m2 sizes are available in standard versions, weighing 3.2kg and 2.7kg, or uber-lightweight versions with Dyneema risers and unsheathed lines, weighing 2.3kg and 1.9kg.
There will also be a tiny 10m2 Swoop 2 to follow. For experts only, Nervures say it will have an efficient brake response and low roll movement for a wing of its size.
Nervures say that all three sizes of the Swoop 2 have impressively good, market-leading glide performance.
