Italian hang glider company Icaro 2000‘s new electric hang glider, the Pit-trike, was developed by hang gliding ex-world champion Manfred Ruhmer.
The lightweight trike is a low-noise, easy-start, “plug-and-play” toy with very low running costs, “less than 1 euro of electric current for an hour’s flight”, Icaro 2000 claim, adding that “Maintenance costs are likewise minimal”. It uses a 1.4 m folding propeller, with a guaranteed high propulsive efficiency.
The Pit-trike will fly for up to an hour on one charge (and is quick to recharge again), but if this is too limiting for you, it is also available in two-stroke Simonini or four-stroke Bailey petrol engine versions.
