Alex Rauter has succeeded in his 7 Zugspitz Summits challenge

37 year old snowboard instructor and mountain bike guide, Alex Rauter, has achieved his self-set challenge to ascend and fly off seven peaks in his home ground of the Zugspitz, Tyrol, accumulating 8,848m of ascent in total (the height of Everest).

On 25 July the elements came together to allow him to complete the bid in 17 hours 40 minutes, more than comfortably inside the 24 hour target time.

Carrying his lightweight Nova Ibex, reserve and the bare essentials, Alex was accompanied to the summits by supporters carrying food and water, as well as a film crew, the fruits of whose labour will be televised in Austria in the autumn.
