Paraglider harnesses don’t just support us and connect us to the wing. They constitute up to half of the weight of our equipment, determine the behaviour and handling of our wing, cause up to a quarter of the drag in flight, provide space for instruments, food, clothes and the reserve parachute and, arguably most importantly, provide safety at various levels.

SOFT LANDING: The job of back protection is straightforward: it is to cushion the impact of a hard landing. Over the years manufacturers have developed, and continue to develop, different ways of doing that. Weight, bulk and the restrictions of certification are important influences when it comes to designing back protection, which has led to a design evolution from fat foam protectors to lightweight slim ones using new materials.
