European Championships 2024: One to remember

Goal! The FAI European Paragliding Championships in Pegalajar, Spain saw ten tasks and knocked more than 1,000km into the back of the net – this was truly the best paragliding competition can get. We headed to olive country.

The Competition

“It doesn’t get better than this,” was the verdict from pilot after pilot at the FAI European Paragliding Championships in Spain. Held in Pegalajar, a two-horse town in Andalucia, inland southern Spain, in the last two weeks of May the conditions could not have been better, with day after day of 100k tasks.

Maxime’s teammate Constance Mettetal won nine out of 10 tasks in the Women’s class and was crowned new European Women’s Paragliding Champion. Austria’s Eli Egger was second and Romania’s Anca Tabara was third. 

France’s Maxime Pinot won the overall competition, taking home gold to add to his rack of medals. Having won the World Championships in France last year he is now the proud bearer of both World and European championship titles. Britain’s...
