Pedal powered flight

Monday 2 March, 2009

If microlights are the motorbikes of the skies, then this is the bicycle: The Airbike is a supine unit that can be attached to either hang gliders or paragliders, that enables you to pedal in between thermals. Described as a  lightweight, low drag and comfortable piece of kit, the unit features a fully enclosed pod and folding propeller guard for power off soaring. (It can also use electric or petrol power if you wish). Designer, Leonardo da Vinci design award nominee Rupert Sweet-Escott, assures us that “ground handling is very easy because the pedals fold back behind the pilot”.

So, no more need for parawaiting, just take off, find the pedals and off you go. The harder you work, the further you can go!

Rupert is currently looking for distributors. Interesetd parties, please contact him via the form on his website.
