Regular cross-country pilots who would like some of the proven benefits of a submarine style harness but are wary of stepping up to a competition machine – that’s the pilot Supair have in mind for their newly launched Pulse harness.
“The idea was to make an accessible submarine for any pilot,” explained Clément Latour at Coupe Icare – “and not just competition pilots”. This results in a user-friendly harness that’s easy to get into, features “good protection” and offers easy access to instruments and is more durable, say Supair.
Supair say the Pulse features a straightforward entry system, instruments positioned in your line of sight, full-body inflatable protection (certified to 30G), dual reserve parachute compartments (one on each side), and weighs just 3.4kg (size M). “In short, it combines everything a modern cross-country pilot looks for in a harness that remains easy to use,” they say.
It is aimed at pilots looking to cross mountains, fly for five to six hours or make an FAI triangle, but who don’t want to compromise on passive safety.
Supair say it offers the best of both worlds: “Cross-country pilots can step up their performance without going to extremes—keeping their current wing and flying habits intact. It creates a new kind of compromise, the technology of a pressurised harness combined with the weight, simplicity, and passive safety of a cross-country pod harness.”
