Niviuk unveiled an updated version of the mid-range Arrow pod harness at Coupe Icare. The Arrow 2 is designed as a classic pod harness for pilots looking to go XC. “It’s versatile enough for everyday use, comfortable for hours in the air and efficient over long distances,” they say.
Niviuk say the frame has been completely redesigned to “adapt more closely to the shape of the body”. “Its structure supports and surrounds the pilot, while offering greater flexibility in the areas that need to adapt to the body’s curves and movements.” they say.
Speaking at Coupe Icare, Designer Tim Rochas said: “It’s not a competition harness, but it’s something in between the Arrow P and before jumping to a fully inflated [submarine style] harness. We tried to make it more easy, more foldable, but with the possibility of putting two rescues in it.”
A layer of foam integrated above the seat provides a softer, more even feel, improving support for the legs, hips and back. At the top of the backrest, a padded section provides additional support for the upper back.
The fairing is now longer and higher, fully integrating the pilot’s head into the harness profile, which reduces drag and improves stability around the yaw axis, say Niviuk.
The Arrow 2 comes as standard with an inflatable protector which has an impact score of 32.5 G. It is inflated using a small portable electric pump weighing 55g that comes with the harness. For pilots who prefer a traditional solution, an optional foam protector is also available. In addition, an 8cm-thick foam protector covers the back area. It provides an extra layer of cushioning and enhances the feeling of protection, say Niviuk.
The Arrow 2 is available in four sizes.
