Pilots planning autumn trips to Saint-André-les-Alpes should note that the site will be unavailable to organised groups from 4-19 September 2026 (inclusive).

The site, one of Europe’s best-known cross-country paragliding destinations and a favourite with schools and guided tours in late summer, has been reserved for two major paragliding competitions.

In a social media post site managers explained that during the closure, training courses, club trips and organised group activities will not be permitted, and the site managers say no exceptions will be made.

Pilots planning autumn trips to Saint-André-les-Alpes should note that the site will be unavailable to organised groups from 4-19 September 2026 (inclusive).

The restriction does not apply to individual pilots. However, solo pilots will only be able to launch outside the competition launch windows and should expect temporary restrictions during competition operations.

The site managers said the measures are necessary to ensure the safety of competitors, officials, volunteers and visiting pilots, while allowing the events and their logistics to run smoothly.

The announcement also serves as a reminder that all professional schools and training organisations must notify the site managers in advance before running courses at Saint-André-les-Alpes, even outside the closure period.

Clubs, schools and tour organisers are being asked to avoid scheduling trips to the site during the competition period.
