Applications have opened for the 2025 edition of the “world’s toughest adventure race” due to start 15 June 2025.
According to the organisers, those hoping for a chance to take part should be true adventurers with varied and “out-there” adventure credentials. They should also have lots of race experience, flying at least 200 hours per year in the mountains, able to handle “less than perfect” conditions.
Race director, Ferdinand Vogel said: “We are eager to discover new talents who can withstand the physical and mental demands of this extraordinary race.” He added both male and female atheltes would continue to be welcome and organisers especially wanted to encourage more female applications.

Athletes will be announced 14 October 2024. With the new edition of the race comes a new route which will be announced 19 March 2025.
The application phase for Red Bull X-Alps 2025 is officially open until 31 August 2024, 18.00 (CEST).
